Project Name: Forest Management and Restoration Initiative – Southern Tanzania
Description: Our client, an NGO operating in Southern Tanzania, seeks passionate volunteers, researchers, and students to actively contribute to critical forestry-related projects. Participants will engage in various initiatives focusing on sustainable forest management, restoration, carbon credit schemes, community-based forest management, non-timber forest products (NTFPs), and sustainable harvesting practices. This hands-on experience offers a unique opportunity to directly impact local communities, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation efforts.
Deliverables: Participants will be expected to:
Contribute to forest restoration activities, including tree planting, nursery management, and ecological assessments.
Assist in data collection and research activities related to carbon credit programs and forest sustainability practices.
Support local communities in implementing community-based forest management (CBFM) approaches.
Engage in monitoring, reporting, and documentation of non-timber forest products and their sustainable extraction.
Facilitate training sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops with community members on sustainable forest harvesting practices.
Prepare and submit weekly progress reports outlining activities, findings, lessons learned, and recommendations.
